3rd Annual Meditation Workshop, "Meditation: East & West"

Sophia’s Well of Wisdom announces its third annual meditation workshop: Meditation East & West. The weekend workshop will be held July 28 and 29 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The spiritual center is located at 270 A Hanford Street in Sutter Creek, across from the Days Inn.

The featured speaker on Eastern practices is Eugene Alliende, MFT, a local traditional and transpersonal psychotherapist. He has been practicing meditation and Yoga for the last twenty years and facilitates a weekly meditation group on Mondays in Jackson at Global Healing Arts.
Alliende will focus on the basic pillars of meditation practice in Eastern Mediation on Saturday from 10 a.m. - 12 noon.  Alliende was also initiated into the Tantric Yoga lineage in 1994 and will present an Introduction to Tantra on Sunday from 2 - 4 p.m.

Rev. Patsy Walker Fine, local spiritual director and minister, will share approaches to Western Meditation on Saturday afternoon from 2 - 4 p.m.  She will lead an exploration of Contemplative Practices on Sunday from 10 a.m. - 12 noon. Fine guides a weekly Sunday meditation group and specializes in contemplative bodywork in the Holistic Wellness Ministries of SWOW.

Participants will learn and experience various styles of meditation throughout the workshop. Following lunch each day, Marilyn Nutter will lead the group through Chi Meditation, a modified version of Tai Chi with gentle and easy movements.  Another option is the opportunity to experience the ancient Chinese movement meditation practice of Qi Gong with Sufri Andrew Plitt on Sunday at 5 p.m.  Nutter teaches Chi Meditation every Wednesday at 6 p.m. and Plitt teaches Qi Gong every Sunday at 5 p.m. at SWOW.

Registration will start at 9:30 a.m. each morning. The workshop cost is by donation and participants may come to all or part of the two-day workshop. Pre-registration by July 27 will ensure participants have a seat and available handouts. Bring a sack lunch; drinks and healthy snacks will be provided. Cntact Rev.
